The International Eddie Rosner Alfa Jazz Fest Music Award to be granted within the framework of the local jazz festival
This year’s international Alfa Jazz Fest, which is due to take place on June 1-3 in Lviv, promises to bring up loads of pleasant surprises not only for the jazz lovers, but also for the players.
The jazz summer of 2012 shall make it into the history owing to establishment of the international Eddie Rosner Alfa Jazz Fest Award, as part of Alfa Jazz Fest ceremonies.
This award, which is bound to become one of the top grade recognitions in the realm of jazz, shall make it to the festival’s annual tradition. It shall be granted to the worthiest among the renowned and celebrated personalities, who made an outstanding contribution into the development and promotion of jazz worldwide. The winner shall be selected by international experts, including music critics, famous people of culture, public persons and politicians, journalists and entrepreneurs.
The Award ceremony shall take place on June 2, 2012 in Lviv, during one of the festival's gala concerts.
(Адольф Едуард Рознер, Адольф Гнатович Рознер, Едді Ігнаци Рознер; born May 26, 1910, Berlin – passed August 8, 1976, West Berlin) – jazz trumpet player, violinist, conductor, composer and arranger. He was known as “The White Louis Armstrong” for his excellent ability to improvise. Eddie created a number of jazz tunes, tango, waltz, songs and jazz orchestrations. He was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus (1944). He was one of the most popular jazz performers in the USSR, whose recordings were suppressed twice.
